World Cup spots on the line at Nationals

The first major national age-group tournament of the season is set to get underway tomorrow at NZC's High Performance Centre, with the country's top men's Under 19 cricketers gathering in Lincoln, Canterbury.

Wellington U19 heads into the annual NZC Gillette Under 19 Men's National tournament as the defending champion, a round robin of five one-dayers on the menu ahead of a Finals day on Saturday, 9 December that will see the top two teams contest the silverware, together with 3v4 and 5v6 playoffs.

Three matches are played concurrently each day (with two rest days interspersed); with every match live-scored and each day's game on Bert Sutcliffe Oval also livestreamed on NZC YouTube and at www.nzc.nz.

National selectors will be keeping a keen eye on proceedings with a New Zealand Under 19 team to be named for the next ICC Men's Under 19 World Cup, coming up in South Africa from 13 January 2024 - where New Zealand is pooled with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal Under 19.

The U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup has long been the springboard for some of the most recognisable stars of the global game.

The Nationals are the last opportunity for players to put their name forward and feature the top emerging players from throughout the country.
