Windies take series

A stellar half-century to star batsman Brian Lara has guided the West Indies to a series-clinching win in the fourth one day international against India in Trinidad.

The home side's skipper hit 69 of 97 balls as the West Indies coasted to a six wicket victory with six overs to spare.

The win gives Lara's troops an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

Winning the toss on a favourable bowling pitch, the West Indies put India into bat and did well to restrict them to 7-217.

Young up-and-coming allrounder Dwayne Bravo was also in sound form for the hosts and, together with Lara, paved the way for his side with a career-best 61 not out.

Earlier in the innings, the West Indies' response to the paltry Indian looked set to derail after several quick wickets had the hosts reeling on 3-91.

However, Lara and Bravo soon put to rest any fears of a shock-loss and the West Indies comfortably took the match after scoring 4-218.
