Win opens A team tour

Jamie How’s century opened New Zealand A’s Australian tour with a 79-run win over Northern Territory Strike at Marrara Cricket Ground.

The State Central Stags opener struck 11 fours and one six as part of an innings of 112, helping the tourists to 231 for seven.

Neil Broom contributed 54 in an 86-run, second-wicket stand with How.

Hamish Bennett followed up with four for 22, with Warren McSkimming and Nathan McCullum claiming two each as the Strike were dismissed for 152 with four overs to spare.

The teams have agreed to meet again in second match on Thursday 12 July, before the Kiwis move on to the Emerging Players Tournament in Queensland.
