White Ferns edged out

Nicola Browne claimed three wickets but the White Ferns fell to another narrow defeat to Australia in the Twenty20 curtain-raiser to the Rose Bowl series.

Browne claimed three for 14 as the New Zealanders limited the world champions to 108 for nine from their 20 overs.

She then struck two fours, following Maria Fahey and Aimee Mason’s 39 run stand and debutante Amy Satterthwaite’s 25, the team’s top score.

The White Ferns needed three from the final ball, but all-rounder Kris Britt followed her impressive 39 with the decisive run out of Sarah Tsukigawa.

The teams meet again on Saturday for the first of five ODIS in the Rose Bowl Series.
