White Ferns defeat young Aussies

A solid double by Aimee Mason and a Sarah Tsukigawa half-century were the highlights of the White Ferns’ final warm-up match before their four-nation tournament in India.

The New Zealanders completed a 66-run win over Australia Youth at Lincoln.

Tsukigawa hit 65 and Mason 47 as the home team posted 246 for eight from 50 overs.

Rebecca Rolls (30), Maria Fahey (33) and Nicola Browne (37) also contributed to a competitive total, before off-spinner Mason claimed three for 35 as Australia was limited to 180 for nine.

The White Ferns head to Chennai later this week to play the Southern Stars, England and India.

New Zealand A host the young Australians in three limited-overs matches at Lincoln’s Bert Sutcliffe Oval on Tuesday 13, Thursday 15 and Friday 16 February.
