Watson taken to hospital

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has been taken to hospital in India after complaining of chest pains.

Cricket Australia Team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris indicated that initial tests pointed to gastritis, which commonly causes heart-burn and chest pain, however the talented 25-year-old will face more tests to fully determine the nature of the illness.

"Shane experienced severe chest pain this morning (Tuesday 24 October) and we decided to take him to hospital to investigate and manage the problem," said Kountouris.

"He had a range of tests, the results of which indicate that he has gastritis."

"Shane will be re-assessed later this evening with a view to bringing him back to the team hotel tonight."

Australia will be hoping for a speedy recovery from the powerful batsmen, with the side's final ICC Champions Trophy group game to be played on Sunday against the host nation.
