Kruger van Wyk is to join the Central Districts Stags for the forthcoming domestic cricket season. Van Wyk has played for the Canterbury Wizards for four seasons including captaining the side in the last three.
“I have enjoyed my time with the Wizards immensely and I am very grateful to Canterbury Cricket for providing me the initial opportunity to further my cricket career. No longer being captain of the Wizards enables me to focus on my ambition to play international cricket and moving to Central Districts will provide me with a fresh start and the opportunity to pursue this goal. I am looking forward to new challenges with my new Association” said van Wyk.
Lee Germon, Canterbury Cricket CEO, said “Kruger has been an integral part of the Wizards for a number of seasons always representing the province with pride on and off the field. He will be missed however, I understand and respect his decision and wish him well in his cricket career.”
CD CEO Hugh Henderson said “Central Districts is delighted to welcome a player with Kruger's proven playing and leadership skills. We look forward to him competing strongly for selection within the 2010/11 Stags squad".
