Tendulkar to return

Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has overcome his shoulder complaint and is fit to play in next month's triangular series in Sri Lanka, according to a senior Indian cricket official.

Tendulkar missed the tour of the West Indies after having shoulder surgery last March following the series against England, but has been given the green light to resume his international career, according to Niranjan Shah, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary.

"Tendulkar has been undergoing graded physical testing of his right shoulder for the last five days under the supervision of BCCI physiotherapist John Gloster and has made satisfactory progress to make him available for selection for the tour of Sri Lanka," said Shah in a statement.

Tendulkar spent six weeks in England rehabilitating from the surgery and has played a handful of club and charity games for match practice.

India selectors will meet on Thursday to pick the squad to take on South Africa and Sri Lanka for the series in Colombo from August 14 to 29.
