Tendulkar recovering well

Indian star Sachin Tendulkar is looking to take part in a number of exhibition games in England as he attempts to recover from shoulder surgery.

The classy stroke-maker was forced to withdraw from India's tour to the West Indies after rupturing a tendon in his left shoulder earlier in the year.

"The doctors are happy with my progress and hopefully by the Sri Lanka series I should be fit," he told the BBC.

"I'm trying to build up the strength and planning to play exhibition games here where there's not much pressure."

India travel to Sri Lanka in August for a triangular series which also includes South Africa.

However, there are opportunities for Tendulkar to get some match practice under his belt before August.

Indian skipper Rahul Dravid is expected take part in a Twenty20 game at The Oval on July 10 to raise funds for victims of the October 2005 earthquake in Pakistan.
