Stags back in Shield chase

A half-century from BLACKCAPS opener Jamie How helped State Central Stags to a seven-wicket victory over State Auckland Aces at Eden Park’s Outer Oval.

How returned to the Stags captaincy in Jacob Oram’s absence and led the side to win which puts them back in the hunt for the State Shield.

His knock of 53 was supported by Mathew Sinclair’s unbeaten 42 in a decisive 85-run partnership for the third wicket, which ended when the skipper was caught by Mayu Pasupati off Paul Hitchcock.

CD surpassed Auckland’s 122 in 27.1 overs, the Aces having been bowled out in 37.4.

Lance Hamilton took four Auckland wickets for 36 runs from 20 overs and Ewen Thompson took 3-19.
