Stags, Aces, ND make the cut

With an impressive sixth consecutive win from the seven rounds to date, the Central Stags today secured their number one position on The Ford Trophy table with a round to spare after a well paced chase at the Basin Reserve.

The number one spot means the Central Stags will host the 1v2 Semi-Final at New Plymouth’s Pukekura Park on Saturday 17 February, with their opponent yet to be confirmed.

Other results today saw Northern Districts and the Auckland Aces also inked in as qualifiers while defending champions Canterbury, the Wellington Firebirds and the Otago Volts are left in a three-way shootout for the fourth qualifier spot, the last berth that will be decided by Sunday’s eighth and final round of the regular season.

ROUND EIGHT of The Ford Trophy takes place at 11am this Sunday in Napier (Central Stags v Northern Districts), Christchurch (Canterbury v Wellington Firebirds) and Auckland (Auckland Aces v Otago Volts) while both the 1v2 and 3v4 Semi-Finals are set for Saturday 17 February.
