Sri Lanka down hosts

An impressive performance from Sri Lanka veteran Sanath Jayasuriya left the West Indies struggling in the ICC World Cup Super Eight Series.

Jayasuriya followed 115 with three wickets as the hosts were downed by 113 runs at the Providence Stadium, Georgetown, Guyana.

Batting first, Jayasuriya and captain Mahela Jayawardene (82) put on 183 for the third wicket to move their side to a healthy 303 for five.

Jayasuriya led the bowling figures with three for 38, with Muttiah Muralidaran, Lasith Malinga and Chaminda Vaas all taking two each as the West Indies were dismissed for 190.

Guyanese batsmen Shivanrine Chanderpaul (76) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (44) put on 92 for the fourth wicket, but their partnership offset an otherwise disappointing performance.
