South Africans have injury woes

South Africa has a nervous wait before its  one-day tri-series against India and Sri Lanka, with three of its top players, Makhaya Ntini, Shaun Pollock and Mark Boucher under injury clouds.

Ntini, who only bowled 7.2 overs in the second innings in the second Test against Sri Lanka, has a hamstring strain but the team is hopeful he will recover by Monday.

"He is due for a fitness test over the weekend and it is very unlikely that he will play any part in the team prior to that," coach Mickey Arthur told Cricinfo.com

Fast bowler Dale Steyn, who was originally only required for the Test series, has stayed with the team to cover for Ntini.

Pollock has an injury to his lower back which management say is due to a heavy workload.

The injury is similar to that which kept him out of the first Test in the home series against Australia earlier in the year.

Boucher, who is to captain the South Africans in the tri-series, is nursing an injured left elbow after being hit in the second test.

Both Pollock and Boucher will be rested for today's practice game against a Sri Lankan Academy side and along with Ntini, will be available for selection on Monday.
