Rain ruins ODI

Rain has washed out the opening one-day international between Pakistan and the West Indies in Rawalpindi.

After three days of downpours the stadium was left saturated, and umpires Daryl Harper and Aleem Dar had little hesitation in calling off the match.

The wash-out is good news for Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq as the abandoned contest has counted as the fourth match of his suspension and he will be free to play in the second game of the five-match series in Faisalabad on December 7.

Inzamam missed Pakistan's Champions Trophy campaign due to a four-match ban that arose from the ball-tampering saga at The Oval earlier this year.

West Indies captain Brian Lara was disappointed with the weather but was still hopeful his side could take something from the series.

"The weather hasn't been great but we have to move on and focus on the second match," Lara told the BBC.
