Peter Ingram and Kate Broadmore named as CD Players of the Year

The Central Districts Cricket Players of the Year for the recently completed season have been announced.

Central Stags – Peter Ingram
Another outstanding Plunket Shield season has resulted in Peter Ingram taking out the Life Members award for the second successive season.

After a slow start at the Champions League in South Africa, Peter returned to exceed his Plunket Shield aggregate from last season scoring 858 runs.  This topped the national list of run scorers in the competition by more than one hundred runs.  He scored four centuries in the Plunket Shield, including two in the same game against Wellington at the Basin Reserve and ended the competition with an average of 50.47.

During the season Ingram passed 5000 runs in first class cricket and moved into second place in the list of run scorers for the Stags.  While his One Day and HRV Cup statistics were down on previous seasons, Ingram’s positive stroke play ensured that he remained one of the most feared batsmen in the domestic game.

Central Hinds – Kate Broadmore
Kate Broadmore has been a regular member of the Hinds for a number of seasons now.  This year she became the “go to” bowler in the team, made important batting contributions and assumed a real leadership role amongst the group.

With the absence of senior bowlers from previous seasons Broadmore led a very young attack by example – taking responsibility for bowling with the new ball and at the “death” of the innings.  She took the most wickets at in the Action Cricket Cup at the most economical run rate, and was second in both statistical areas in the Action Cricket Twenty20.

Broadmore’s efforts have seen her become a valued member of the White Ferns squad and she played an important role in the North Island defeating the South Island in their series this year
