Pakistan 2-0 up in series

Pakistan claimed a seven-wicket win over the West Indies in a contest notable for Duckworth-Lewis being employed due to a failure in the lighting at Lahore.

Batting first, the West Indies were 207-7 in the 47th over when the lights went out.

Its innings got off to the worst possible start when Brian Lara, who opened the innings, was dismissed for a first ball duck by Rana Naved-ul Hasan.

However, Chris Gayle took 21 runs from one of Naved-ul-Hasan's overs before also being trapped leg before wicket for 41.

Lendl Simmons, hit 70, his highest score in ODIs, and featured in parnerships of 52 with Gayle and 61 with Daren Ganga.

Marlon Samuels was dismissed in controversial fashion when given out caught for 13 of Rao Iftikhar. However, the ball touched the ground before Imran Farhat secured it.

Naved-ul-Hasan finished with 3-37.

Due to the lights failure, Pakistan was given a revised target of 191 from 35 overs.

Openers Imran Farhat and Mohammad Hafeez put on 64 runs in 13 overs. Hafeez scored 31 off 43 balls while Farhat scored 58. Kamran Akmal batted at No.3 and hit 23 off 20 balls.

It was left to Mohammad Yousuf (28no) and Shoaib Malik (21no) to score 44 in eight overs and to get Pakistan home with eight balls to spare.

The West Indies were guilty of conceding 17 wides.
