New Zealand Under-19 squad announced

The New Zealand Cricket Age Group selection panel has today announced the Under-19 squad for the forthcoming home series against India Under-19.

The panel - Dayle Hadlee (convener), coach Dipak Patel, Lance Cairns and Kaushik Patel - have named a 13-man squad and five reserves for three Youth Test Matches and three One-Day Internationals.

The team will assemble at New Zealand Cricket's High Performance Centre at Lincoln on 15 January ahead of a two-day preparation game against a Canterbury XI at Garrick Park, Christchurch on 18/19 January.

Hadlee said: "Two of the batsmen have dominated at the National Under-19 Tournament, scoring prolifically.

"Andrew De Boorder has accumulated 516 runs at an impressive average of 258, including a double century, a century and three half-centuries in five innings.

"Michael Taiaroa has scored three centuries in six innings, totalling 456 runs at 91.2.

"The experienced Tim Southee will lead the bowling attack and Bradley Cachopa will keep wickets, having displayed his all-round skills after averaging 77 with the bat."

The selectors have reserved the right to reselect the team ahead of the ODI series.
