New Zealand Cricket’s annual High Performance Forum begins on Wednesday

New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive Justin Vaughan and Director of Cricket John Buchanan will open a series of meetings and workshops involving the country’s international and domestic cricket coaches, trainers, physiotherapists and support staff on Wednesday 4 May.

The three-day forum will focus on improving the level of integration across cricket’s high performance area and include sessions on injury surveillance, the NZC fast bowler programme, agreed physical standards, strength and conditioning and the use of technology.

Some key note speakers include Tracey Paterson, who supported both New Zealand Netball and New Zealand Hockey with integration in their respective sports, along with Northern Districts High Performance Development Coach Craig Ross, who recently returned from the Queensland Fast Bowlers Road Show.  There is also time allocated for reviews, future planning and a forum summary.

Justin Vaughan said: “The way cricket training and preparation is integrated from development through to BLACKCAPS is the absolute key to ensuring our best players are getting the best results.

"We need to develop a shared vision among our elite coaches and support staff for the future and a programme of action to shape that future for the benefit of all cricketers.”

New Zealand Cricket High Performance Forum aims to:

  • Improve the level of integration BLACKCAPS down and development up
  • Improve level of integration within a team environment
  • Identify factors that will make a difference to HP for cricket in New Zealand.
