New Zealand Cricket confirms new BLACKCAPS’ management and support staff structure

New Zealand Cricket today confirmed the new management and support staff structure for the BLACKCAPS.

Several changes have been made to the BLACKCAPS unit as a result of the review of the recent tour of India, including the appointment of John Wright as head coach.

“As communicated on Monday a structure centering around a head coach has now been adopted for the BLACKCAPS with John Wright filling this important leadership role.

“There will be a degree of continuity in support staff with Trent Woodhill in the role of assistant coach, Dave Currie as team manager and Bryan Stronach, the BLACKCAPS team trainer.

“New Zealand Cricket network coaches Paul Wiseman and James Pamment will support John Wright for the Twenty20 series with Trent Woodhill unavailable due to illness,”

“Dayle Shackel, who has been working with NZC but who last travelled with the BLACKCAPS in 2008, will rejoin as physiotherapist.

“Roger Mortimer will continue to work with New Zealand Cricket but will not tour with the team.

“Mark Greatbatch will chair an independent selection panel that contains Glenn Turner and new appointment Lance Cairns.

“I am positive the changes outlined will act as a great stimulus to improve performance for the BLACKCAPS. I am hopeful the Auckland cricketing public will get out and support the team on Boxing Day for the T20 international which opens the National Bank series against Pakistan.” Vaughan concluded.
