New Zealand Cricket announces new board member and reappoints President

Former international cricketer, Rob Hart, has been elected to the Board of New Zealand Cricket and NZC President, Denis Currie, has been re-appointed for a second one-year term.

The appointments were confirmed today at the 116th Annual General Meeting of New Zealand Cricket, held in Wellington Hart was nominated for the NZC Board by the Northern Districts Cricket Association and he replaces Alan Isaac on the Board..

NZC Board members Alan Isaac and Stephen Boock were scheduled to retire by rotation this year. Former Board Chairman, Alan Isaac, resigned his position in August on being appointed ICC Vice President and Boock successfully made himself available for re-selection.

New board member, Mr Hart played 11 Tests and two ODIs for New Zealand between 2002 and 2004 and carved out a reputation as a tenacious wicket-keeper batsman during his 110 First-class matches and 136 one-day matches for Northern Districts in a professional cricketing career spanning 12 years.

Mr Hart has a background in law and corporate affairs and is currently a partner at Tompkins Wake law firm.  He recently resigned from the New Zealand Players Association (NZCPA) board after serving for two years and his appointment to the NZC board was endorsed by the NZCPA board members.

Mr Currie, who served as President last year following 19 years on the NZC board, was successfully reappointed for a second term. The President can serve for a maximum of three one-year terms.

Today’s AGM also awarded life memberships to former New Zealand all-rounder Sir Richard Hadlee and former Radio Sport commentator and First-Class cricketer Iain Gallaway.
