New Zealand Cricket announces all-inclusive ticket prices

New Zealand Cricket will include all ticket-related charges in the advertised price of its tickets for the coming summer, in what is believed to be a first for the New Zealand sport and entertainment industry,

“We want to include all relevant charges in our ticket prices so that what our customers see advertised is what they will pay at the ticket outlet,” says New Zealand Cricket Marketing Manager Peter Dwan.

“The ticket service charges are not large, but the add-ons can often leave a sour taste in the mouths of fans,” he said.

The all-inclusive price of tickets will include Ticketek booking fees, Ticketek transaction fees, printing fees and stadium levies, where applicable.

The Commerce Commission is pleased with the move by New Zealand Cricket. “This is a good example of an organisation acknowledging customer demand for a single price” says the Director Fair Trading Deborah Battell.

“Consumers can now more easily compare the price for a day out at the cricket against other summer events.”

New Zealand Cricket will be supporting the all-inclusive ticket price decision with a campaign to highlight to fans the food that they are able to take into venues for international cricket matches as part of a specific focus on improved customer service for the coming season.

Tickets for this summer’s cricket will go on sale from 15 November 2006. In December and January the BLACKCAPS take on Sri Lanka in two tests, two Twenty20 matches and five ODI’s. In February the Australians will be here to contest the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy over three one-day matches.
