New HRV Cup uniforms break with tradition

New Zealand Cricket today launched the new-look playing kit for the inaugural HRV Cup Twenty20 competition.

The new kit was designed by NZC apparel sponsor, Canterbury of New Zealand (CCC) to reflect the style and drama of the explosive T20 format.

The BLACKCAPS and domestic cricket stars of New Zealand will be joined by marquee international players to contest the 2010 HRV Cup.

All of the uniforms are significantly different to previous cricket kit seen in New Zealand, and there is one obvious stand-out in the group - with the Northern Knights playing in pink. The Knights are involved in supporting the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and their uniforms reflect the new relationship.

Daniel Vettori is looking forward to putting on the Knights uniform and challenging his BLACKCAPS team mates during the HRV Cup. “The best thing about the HRV Cup is that all players are going to be involved and it will be a true reflection of New Zealand Twenty20 cricket,” he said.

“The HRV Cup is going to get the best out of every side and the fact we are going to smaller locations means we are going to be playing in front of full houses.”

The HRV Cup starts on Saturday 2 January at Mt Maunganui’s Blake Park, with the Northern Knights hosting the Auckland Aces.

On Sunday 3 January, the Northern Knights stay at Blake Park to play reigning champions with the Otago Volts, and the Central Stags hosting the Wellington Firebirds at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth.   The Auckland Aces then host the Canterbury Wizards at Colin Maiden Park, Auckland on Monday 4 January.
