National Under-21s provides stepping stone for women

Beginning today at Auckland's Lloyd Elsmore Park, the women's National Under-21 Tournament plays a vital role in the development of the country's leading young cricketers.

The tournament provides a stepping stone for the next wave of women players who are leaving school cricket and pushing for domestic First XI honours with Wellington Blaze, the Otago Sparks, Auckland Hearts, Central Hinds, Northern Spirit or Canterbury Magicians.

For many players, the tournament is the first opportunity to play against their peers from around New Zealand. The tournament has a firm development focus and concludes on 21 December 2015.

Four One-Day matches and three Twenty20 matches are contested across the week. The team with the most points across both formats at the end of the tournament will be declared the winner.

Matches are livescored at www.blackcaps.co.nz and on our mobile app
