National Bank Fast Bowling Challenge: The Final

Six secondary school students will compete to become New Zealand’s Fastest Secondary School Bowler in The National Bank Fast Bowling Challenge Final.

The six bowlers will meet members of the BLACKCAPS, before they fly out for the West Indies, at Wednesday’s final in Auckland.

The six finalists are:

Corey Anderson (Christchurch Boys High - 138kph)
Brad Smith (Waimea College, Nelson - 133kph)
Anurag Verma (Hamilton Boys High - 131kph)
Trent Boult (Otumoetai College - 130kph)

Josh Fisher (Hauraki Plains College - 129kph)

Over 200 secondary school cricketers took part in the Fast Bowling Challenge, with heats in 15 towns and cities nationwide wide.

The National Bank Fast Bowling Challenge offered many young cricketers their first opportunity to have their bowling speeds measured.

“We’ve been really impressed by all of the secondary school bowlers who participated in The Fast Bowling Challenge. It's been great to see first-hand some of New Zealand's up-and-coming fast bowlers,” said Gavin Larsen, Head of Sports Sponsorship for The National Bank.

New Zealand’s Fastest Secondary School Bowler will win an all-expenses paid, half-day, personalised high performance coaching and analysis session by New Zealand Cricket, and an offer of a one-year player sponsorship arrangement, including a full set of Aero protective equipment with bag and accessories.

The other five finalists will receive Aero equipment to the value of $250 (rrp).
