Motz passes away

Former BLACKCAPS and Canterbury all-rounder Dick Motz died in Christchurch at the weekend, aged 67.

Motz was the first New Zealander to take 100 Test wickets, a feat that took him 32 matches.

He was the New Zealand Cricketer of the Year in 1961, and one of five Wisden cricketers of the year in 1966, following the 1965 tour of England.

Motz’s body was found at home on Sunday (April 29) by his former national captain and close friend Graham Dowling.
