Michael Parlane takes on player/coach role in Christchurch

The Lancaster Park Cricket Club in Christchurch announced that former Northern Knights opening batsman Michael Parlane has been appointed Player/Coach for the 2011-12 season.

Michael made his debut in the 1992-93 season and has played 139 First Class matches and 167 One Day fixtures for the Northern Knights and Wellington Firebirds.

With the departure of recent coach Garry MacDonald to Nelson, we are fortunate to secure a replacement of such high calibre. Michael is a NZC Level Two coach and is currently working towards his Level Three Qualification.

On his appointment Michael commented: “I'm very pleased to have joined a well run and competitive club, I'm looking forward to the new challenge and appreciate Lancaster Park Woolston giving me the opportunity to take this next step in my career.

I still feel I have a great deal to offer as a player at the highest level but this opportunity to help grow the potential within the club and develop my coaching was to good to pass up. I know my family and I
will enjoy being part of LPWCC.

We are looking forward to a successful 2011/2012 campaign with the strong group of players at Lancaster Park Woolston CC.”

We look forward to a successful season with Michael at the helm, current captain Keryn Ambler will remain in the role.
