Media Release - Styris to return from Durham early

Scott Styris has been recalled from his County Cricket contract with Durham one week early due to concerns about his fitness.

BLACKCAPS General Manager Lindsay Crocker said Styris had been hampered by a number of ongoing injuries during his time at Durham.

“In spite of having had a month off before taking up the contract, Scott has had a number of injury issues while with Durham. We have decided that he needs to return to New Zealand so we can begin working on his fitness and rehabilitation, ahead of our busy international season,” he said.

“While he is still able to play in a limited capacity, we feel that seeing out his contract to 31 July could potentially limit his chances of being fit for the ICC World Twenty20.”

The BLACKCAPS leave for the ICC World Twenty20 in the first week of September.

Styris will play his last game for Durham this weekend.
