A delayed start for the defending Ford Trophy champions

Matches postponed at Colin Maiden Park

Tomorrow’s round one Ford Trophy match (24 November) between the Auckland Aces and Northern Districts at Auckland's Colin Maiden Park has been postponed with the agreement of all parties.

An inspection of the ground has revealed the unprecedented amount of rainfall in Auckland over the past two months has left it unfit for play, with no prospect of tomorrow’s game being able to be started.

NZC Head of Cricket Operations Richard Brewer said it was considered better make the call early and postpone the game rather than have the teams assembled unnecessarily tomorrow.

“NZC, together with all the affected parties, is now investigating when the game can best be re-scheduled, along with the current playing status of Colin Maiden Park.”

UPDATE: Further matches at the venue, as follows, have now been officially postponed.

  • 24 November • Auckland Aces v Northern Districts (Ford Trophy)
  • 26 November • Auckland Hearts v Wellington Blaze (Hallyburton Johnstone Shield)
  • 30 November • Auckland Aces v Otago Volts (Ford Trophy)
  • 12 December • Auckland Aces v Central Stags (Ford Trophy)

In conjunction with the NZCPA and Major Associations, NZC is looking to reschedule these matches to prioritise the playing of cricket.
