Martin replaces Tuffey

Chris Martin will replace Daryl Tuffey in the BLACKCAPS World Cup squad after the State Northern Knights bowler injured his right bicep during yesterday's match against Canada.

Tuffey had an ultrasound in St Lucia yesterday and will have a MRI scan when the team arrives in Antigua later today.

The bicep injury is different to that which he suffered two years ago.

BLACKCAPS general manager Lindsay Crocker explained that Tuffey will need to be officially released by the ICC medical panel, which will happen later today.

"They will then need to approve his replacement, Chris Martin, who we hope will join the group on Sunday local time," he said.

Martin has 38 first class wickets for State Auckland Aces and the BLACKCAPS this year, and 13 during the Aces' State Shield-winning One-Day campaign.
