KP's wicket vital: Warne

Shane Warne has pointed to Kevin Pietersen's wicket in England's second innings collapse as the pivotal moment in Australia's amazing six-wicket win in the second Ashes Test in Adelaide.

After Pietsersen had clobbered Warne to all parts of the ground on his way to a career equal-best score of 158 in the first innings, the champion leg-spinner gained his revenge by bowling the South African-born batsman around his legs for just two in the second innings.

Warne indicated that the wicket was vital in Australia's quest for its astonishing victory on day five of the Test.

"It was certainly the most satisfying," Warne told reporters at Melbourne airport in reference to Pietersen's wicket. "And in the context of the game pretty important because if he had of come out and bashed 30 or 40 runs and given us a target of over 200, it was going to probably be too hard to chase.

"So to get him out I think gave the boys a lift and I was pretty happy about it."

Cricket's highest ever wicket taker, who bowled unchanged for almost two sessions to take 4-49, rated Australia's exhilarating fifth-day win as one of the best Test victories of his career.

"In 140 Test matches I didn't think I would top the 1992 Test match in Colombo against Sri Lanka but that one yesterday was an unbelievable win," Warne said.

"Just the atmosphere and the intensity in the crowd to get up and win was a fantastic achievement by a group of guys who really wanted to win the game, and to come out on top we were very, very happy."

The 37-year-old admitted that bowling 27 straight overs on the final day of an intense Test match took its toll on his body and he was looking forward to the week's rest before the next Test match in Perth beginning on December 14.

"Yeah, the body is pretty sore and I've got a bit of a headache, so I am glad we have got a week until the next Test," said Warne.

"I will really enjoy getting into the pool and just relaxing. But then we've got three Test in pretty much three weeks so it is going to be pretty tough."
