A timely ton for Chad Bowes | MBUTCHER

It's a Hagley Oval Elimination Final

Chad Bowes saved his best for last.

The opening batsman controlled a vital run chase for his side today at Pukekura Park, sealing a nine-wicket win - and moreover, home hosting rights for The Ford Trophy Elimination Final that will be held at Hagley Oval this Thursday - with a match-winning, unbeaten, List A career-best century: 114 not out off 104 balls.

The win against the Central Stags at New Plymouth's Pukekura Park was all Canterbury needed to go through to a home Ford Trophy Elimination Final, after ND meanwhile beat the Wellington Firebirds to deny the defending champions a repeat tilt.

This season's Elimination Final will be an all-South Island affair with the Otago Volts meanwhile squeaking into the third qualifier spot, having claimed a thumping win over top qualifier the Auckland Aces.

Neil Broom starred for the Volts with his 10th List A century (104 off 111 balls) before teammate Michael Rippon spun his way to a career best haul of 5-21 off seven overs to clinch the points.

That win narrowly bumped out Northern Districts in a tight finish on the points table - despite ND's win over the Wellington Firebirds.

After finishing on the same number of points, with the same number of wins and same number of bonus points, the Volts - last season'stop qualifiers before losing the Final - got through courtesy of a slightly superior net run rate.

The winner of Thursday's Ford Trophy Eliminaton Final in Christchurch will go on to play the Auckland Aces in this season's televised Grand Final, at Auckland's Eden Park Outer Oval on Sunday.

The Ford Trophy 2v3 Elimination Final will take place from 11am this Thursday 13 February and the Auckland Aces will host the televised Grand Final at Eden Park Outer Oval on Sunday 16 February, live on SKY Sport.
