The win against the Central Stags at New Plymouth's Pukekura Park was all Canterbury needed to go through to a home Ford Trophy Elimination Final, after ND meanwhile beat the Wellington Firebirds to deny the defending champions a repeat tilt.
This season's Elimination Final will be an all-South Island affair with the Otago Volts meanwhile squeaking into the third qualifier spot, having claimed a thumping win over top qualifier the Auckland Aces.

That win narrowly bumped out Northern Districts in a tight finish on the points table - despite ND's win over the Wellington Firebirds.
