India wants Hair out

India has asked the ICC not to select Darrell Hair for next month's ICC Champions Trophy in a bid to avoid crowd trouble.

India's move follows fresh on the heels of Pakistan, which has already asked the ICC to leave Hair out of the tournament after his involvement in last month's forfeited Test at The Oval.

"There was a lot of controversy and there are certain issues like crowd behaviour etc," Indian cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah told BBC Sport.

"We wanted to avoid unnecessary incidents."

An ICC spokesman confirmed that a letter had been sent but emphasised that it was the governing body's decision who it appointed to umpire at the tournament.

"It is up to the ICC to appoint the best umpires and officials which we will do in due course," he said.

Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq will face a two-day ICC hearing starting on Wednesday to answer charges of ball-tampering and bringing the game into disrepute.
