Memories of the West Indies' fighting effort in the first Test with India have been eradicated after two days of the second Test in St Lucia.
India added another 227 runs for the loss of four more wickets to declare at 588-8. It then had the home team reeling at 65-3 at stumps.
Earlier, Rahul Dravid, who was 95 not out at stumps on day one, polished off his 23rd Test century, and carried on to 146 before he was caught by Brian Lara from Ramnaresh Sarwan. That broke the 179-run stand he shared with Mohammad Kaif.
Kaif was untroubled and carried on to score his maiden Test century, finishing unbeaten on 148 when the declaration was made.
Pedro Collins took 4-116 to be easily the most effective of the West Indies bowlers.
The West Indies made it through to 36 before losing two wickets at that score. Daren Ganga went leg before wicket to Munaf Patel and Sarwan went the same next ball.
Brian Lara reached seven, and the West Indies 55, when he was leg before wicket to Anil Kumble. Patel had 2-20 at stumps from his eight overs.
Chris Gayle was still there at stumps with the heavy load of responsibility on his shoulders as the home team faces another 323 to avoid the follow-on.
