India and West Indies to contest 2008/09 National Bank Series

New Zealand Cricket today announced an exciting summer schedule, with first-up the West Indies landing in December for a three-day match against State Auckland Aces before a two-match National Bank Test Series.

The limited-overs leg of the tour opens with a Twenty20 double header, followed by a five-match ODI series commencing in Queenstown.

The Indian team arrives in March, with the BLACKCAPS taking on the world Twenty20 champions in Wellington before contesting five ODIs and two Test matches.

Peter Dwan, NZC Commercial Manager, said: “Both West Indies and India are steeped in cricket history, and have consistently provided entertainment for supporters and a challenge for players.

“The West Indies are an eye-catching and fiercely competitive team, whilst India – the world Twenty20 champions - are an outstanding team in all forms of the game and their visits to New Zealand are always welcomed.”

BLACKCAPS captain Daniel Vettori said: “It will be nice to face the contrasting styles of the West Indies and India this summer. They are two teams who are both on the rise, and they will provide a good measure of where we are at in our own development.”
