Hearts legends set to bow out

Auckland Hearts veterans and former WHITE FERNS Holly Huddleston and Katie Perkins have confirmed this season is their last in the navy blue.

The hugely accomplished duo will leave a big hole in the Hearts at the end of their 2022/23 campaign, which may be this Sunday at Auckland's Colin Maiden Park if the Hearts don't manage to sneak up and qualify for the one-day Grand Final.

With two teams above them gunning for that spot, the Hearts will need other results to go their way, but there will be no 'what ifs' from Huddleston and Perkins who will exit stage-left on top of their game.

Huddleston is fresh off becoming the first ever Auckland Heart to take a hat-trick in New Zealand Domestic Cricket, while Perkins has been in sensational touch with the bat in the back end of the HBJ, with scores of 65, 113 not out and 94.

Katie Perkins will hang up her boots after 16 years playing for Auckland as the highest run-scorer in the team's history with more than 5,000 runs across both formats since 2006/07.

Huddleston has been one of the team's best allrounders, moving to Auckland early in her career after a start with Northern Districts.

She has taken more than 160 wickets and hit more than 2,000 runs since her debut in 2005/06.

The Hearts will meet Northern Districts in rounds nine and 10 from 10.30am this Saturday and Sunday, with both matches free admission at Colin Maiden Park or watch the free NZC livestream on NZC YouTube or here at www.nzc.nz
