Greg Barclay new NZC representative on ICC Board

Greg Barclay has been elected by the directors of New Zealand Cricket to be their representative on the International Cricket Council’s board of directors, replacing the previous delegate, Martin Snedden.

Mr Barclay, a NZC board member since 2012, is an experienced commercial lawyer and company director, and has a wealth of experience in cricket administration, having previously acted as chairman of the Northern Districts’ Major Association.

His appointment follows Mr Snedden’s decision to relinquish his ICC duties in order to concentrate on his new role as chief executive of New Zealand event development and promotion company, Duco Events.

Mr Barclay will become a member of the ICC’s board of directors, with NZC Chief Executive David White continuing to represent NZC on the world body’s chief executives committee.

“This is an important role for NZC, particularly as we look to finalise the future tours programme and other bilateral series with fellow member countries,” said NZC chairman Stuart Heal.

“Greg’s appointment is indicative of the respect he holds within NZC, and we look forward to him continuing the sterling work of his predecessor.”

Mr Barclay’s first involvement as an ICC director will be when the executive board meets in Dubai on 9 November.
