ROUND THREE

Tauranga Girls College 124-3 (N Patel 45, E Archer 31*, A Harvey 23) beat St Hilda’s Collegiate 111-9 (C Deerness 29, J Meltzer 22, N Patel 2-11, A Clegg 2-23, A Unwin 2-23), Fitzherbert #1

Tauranga Girls College have continued their second-round form into their fixture against St Hilda’s Collegiate beating them by 13-runs. Tauranga Girls College batted first and posted 124 runs, Captain Nensi Patel shone posting a useful 45 while third and fourth order batters competed the innings with Amelia Harvey scoring 23 and Elle Archer scoring 31*. St Hilda’s didn’t help themselves, gifting Tauranga 24 runs in extras. St Hilda’s Chloe Deerness had a good crack in reply posting 29 for her team, with Jordan Meltzer helping to up the score putting up 22 runs. Tauranga however were dominant in the field as they bowled St Hilda’s out for 111 runs in 18 overs, Nensi Patel was economical with ball and came out with the game’s best bowling figures taking two wickets for 11 runs, while Amy Clegg and Aimee Unwin both took two wickets for 23 runs.

Hutt Valley High School 106-2 (A Hamilton 49) lost to Christchurch Girls’ High School 107-3 off 17.3 (G Ansell 49*, J Hull 28), Fitzherbert #2

Christchurch Girls High School remain on top of the points table after beating Hutt Valley High School in round 3 of the Gillette Venus Cup. Hutt Valley High School, coming off yesterday’s win, made a decent 106-2 off their 20 overs against the undefeated side. HVHS’s opener, Amelia Hamilton’s top score of 49 anchored them through to a competitive first innings total. Grace Ansell once again stood out with the bat for Christchurch Girls in their run chase, she high scored making 49* runs. Joey Hull also stood out with the bat with a useful score of 28 for Christchurch, resulting in Christchurch Girls reaching their target with 2.3 overs to spare. Christchurch moves on to round 4 undefeated.

Takapuna Grammar School 84-9 (L Easterbrook 34*, G Donaldson 3-25, C Beck 2-8) lost to St Matthew’s Collegiate 86-4 (E McLeod 25*, O Bartlett 25, I Fox 2-21), Manawaroa Park #5.

Takapuna Grammar have come off second best against the strong St Matthew’s Collegiate side. The Auckland team’s top run scorer, Libby Eastbrook posted 34* while only one other teammate made it to double digits. St Matt’s Gracie Donaldson was economical with the ball claiming three wickets for 25 runs while Cecilia Beck was influential in Takapuna Grammars dismissal claiming two wickets for only 8 runs. St Matts were strong in their reply with both Emma McLeod and captain Ocean Bartlett posting scores of 25. Izzy Fox, having a stella tournament thus far, attempted to slow the strong St Matts side, taking two wickets for 21 runs. It wasn’t enough as St Matthew’s Collegiate claimed their second victory, reaching their target with 4 overs to spare.

ROUND FOUR

Hutt Valley High School 108-6 (A Hamilton 46*, N Codyre 30, O Clark 2-16) lost to St Matthew’s Collegiate 110-2 off 16.1 overs (J Hollard 49*, E McLeod 25), Fitzherbert Park #1

Hutt Valley High School have come off second best after posting a competitive 108-6 against the strong St Matthew’s side. Antonia Hamilton had a stunning campaign, staying in the entire innings and finishing the 20 overs with 46* to show for it. Natasha Codyre helped bring the Hutt Valley High School score up posting a handy 30 points. The rest of the HVHS team fell away, with none reaching double figures. St Matthew’s Collegiate comfortably reached their target only losing two wickets with 3.5 overs to spare. Jesse Hollard once again putting on a show scoring 49*, while Emma McLeod scored 25 and Olivia Clark put 21 on the board. St Matts will look to secure tomorrows game against St Hilda’s in order to have a shot at gold.

Christchurch Girls High School 124-5 (C Liddington 68, G Edge 27, N patel 2-12) beat Tauranga Girls High School 62 all out off 16.3 (E Archer 22, M Martin 4-7, K Hastings 2-2, G Edge 2-10), Fitzherbert Park #2

Casey Liddington got Christchurch Girls High School off to anther cracking start in the fourth round of the Gillette Venus Cup, securing 68 of her teams 124 runs. Georgia Edge also assisted in the teams high scoring game, adding 27 to the table. Tauranga’s Nensi Patel had a part to play in Christchurch’s five wicket loss, taking two for twelve runs. In reply Tauranga knew they need to dig deep, but with the early dismissal of Patel, Elle Archer stepped up to add 22 runs to the team’s total. Christchurch’s Maggie Martin had a stella performance taking four wickets for just seven runs while Kate Hastings took two wickets for two runs and Georgia Edge took two wickets for 10. With the win against Tauranga Girls High School, the Christchurch Girls have secured themselves a sport in tomorrow afternoons final.

Takapuna Grammar School 122-5 (A Browning 47*, I Fox 22, A McClean 3-32) lost to St Hilda’s Collegiate 123-2 off 18 overs (E Gibson 38, A Duncan 32, J Meltzer 29*), Manawaroa Park #5

St Hilda’s have won their first game of the Gillette Venus Cup having put up a tough fight against Takapuna Grammar School. Takapuna Grammar made a competitive 122-5 runs off their 20 overs, openers Anna Browning scoring 47* and Izzy Fox scoring 22 started the Auckland sides innings off with a hiss and a roar. However, they were no match for Hilda’s Anna McClean who, in her efforts to slow the strong side down, took 3 wickets for 32 runs. Hilda’s momentum continued through to the batting as they Comfortably chased down their target with only two wickets lost. The opening batters showed great style, with Ella Gibson (38), Anna Duncan (32) and Jordan Meltzer (29*) all scoring high to bring St Hilda’s home. A strong performance leading into tomorrow’s final round of the round robin play.
