The business end of the NZC Gillette Under 19 Nationals and the T20s begin: could Wellington Under 19 hold onto its tournament lead, after having dominated the one-dayers?
The opening T20 round in Lincoln got off to a slightly delayed start for all teams, with showery weather lurking around Canterbury.
Although a toss was made at each ground and all three games got some action in, sadly for all sides, the weather would intervene again - each of the six sides receiving a single point for the No Result.
That officially ended Central Districts' faint hopes of defending their title, but there was at least a chance to hold the heads high with the second T20 round able to get underway in the afternoon.
Plenty was now riding on it for the four remaining title contenders - Wellington, Canterbury, Auckland and, the team now in the most vulnerable position, Northern Districts.
The morning's T20 'no results' were as follows:
• Central Districts Under 19: 124/2 (15 overs) v Northern Districts Under 19
Sam Cassidy 57 not out (36)
Lincoln No.3
• Auckland Under 19: 139/1 (16.4 overs) v Otago Under 19
Jamal Todd 71 not out (44), Luke Watson 45 not out (44)
Lincoln No.3
• Canterbury Under 19: 109/4 (16.1 overs) v Wellington Under 19
Devon Flannery 58 not out (45), Cam Paul 32 (32); Lachie Bailey 3-7 (3)
Lincoln Green
The afternoon T20s saw CD win the toss and bat against Otago on Lincoln Green; Canterbury elect to bat first in a big match against Auckland on Bert Sutcliffe Oval; and Northern Districts opt to bat as well against the still undefeated frontrunners, Wellington.
• Canterbury Under 19 (170/9) beat Auckland Under 19 (160/8) by 10 runs
