Fulton Retains Wizards Captaincy for 2011/2012 Season

Canterbury Wizards batsman Peter Fulton has retained the captaincy for the upcoming 2011/2012 season.

The Wizards have enjoyed a highly successful season in 2010/2011 under Fulton’s leadership, finishing third in the HRV Cup, earning a home final for the Men’s One Day Competition and taking home the prestigious Plunket Shield.

Fulton said he was honoured to once again lead the Canterbury Wizards in the domestic competition and was excited for the season to get under way. ‘I am really looking forward to next season. The challenge of defending the Plunket Shield and building on the successes we have had this season will be a challenge we will undertake to the very best of our abilities. I look forward to the Wizards building on our good form in all three formats of the game.’

It was a natural choice to re-appoint Fulton as captain for the 2011/2012 season said Canterbury Wizards Head Coach. ‘I am delighted that Peter has once again agreed to captain the Canterbury Wizards. His style of leadership and the way he bought his own brand of tactical awareness to the game was the main reason for our success in the past season.’

Fulton took over the captaincy from former Wizards wicket keeper Kruger van Wyk prior to the HRV Cup campaign during the 2009/2010 season.
