Franklin's Glamorgan in control

James Franklin and Scott Styris had lengthy bowling spells in the latest round of English county cricket action.

Franklin's Glamorgan side is into its second day against Derbyshire. Derbyshire was dismissed for 327 with Franklin taking 1-80 from his 20 overs.

Glamorgan, in response, was 378-3 at stumps.

At Southgate, Middlesex is playing Yorkshire which scored 337-5. Styris, leading the team in Ben Hutton's absence, bowled 19 overs without luck while conceding 70 runs.

BLACKCAPS and Nottinghamshire captain Stephen Fleming spent the day in the field at The Rose Bowl as home team Hampshire scored 345-5.

At Taunton, two former county professionals who played for Northern Districts and Central Districts, Graeme Hick and Ben Smith, shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 274 runs for Worcestershire against Somerset.

Smith was 121 not out at stumps while Hick scored his 129th first-class century and was 151 not out.
