New Zealand left-armer James Franklin has put his Glamorgan county side in a strong position with a four-wicket haul in its match with Northamptonshire.
Playing at Northampton, the home team was dismissed for 178 with Franklin bowling 13 overs to take 4-49.
Batting for the remainder of the day, Glamorgan was 126-2 at stumps.
On day two of the match at Trent Bridge between Nottinghamshire and Middlesex, the Middlesex innings was ended for 276 of which Scott Styris contributed 20.
Nottinghamshire was 158-4 at stumps with Stephen Fleming out for 75 scored from 95 balls. Styris bowled five overs without success at a cost of eight runs.
Essex had a long day in the field as Worcestershire reached 459-5 at Chelmsford. Andre Adams bowled 23 overs and had 1-81.
At Bristol, Glamorgan was well-placed at 278-3. Hamish Marshall scored 84 during 176 minutes at the crease in which he faced 133 balls. Earlier Craig Spearman scored 30.
