Fleming injures finger

BLACKCAPS captain Stephen Fleming has sustained a finger injury during a warm-up for the third day of State Wellington Firebirds’ latest match.

Fleming injured his left middle finger before the third day of the State Championship leaders’ home game against State Central Stags at the Basin Reserve.

Fleming was hit on the end of his finger by the ball during a fielding drill.

BLACKCAPS general manager Lindsay Crocker said an x-ray confirmed that Stephen had broken off a piece of bone in the base of the finger.

Crocker explained: “Stephen was able to bat in the match but it will be 24 hours before we know the extent of the injury.”
