Fleming hits landmark as Vincent returns

BLACKCAPS captain Stephen Fleming began his 250th One-Day International with a good omen by winning the toss and electing to field.

Fleming joins fellow BLACKCAP Chris Harris in a select band of limited-overs veterans to have passed the landmark after 249 appearances for his country and one for the ICC World XI.

Lou Vincent returns to the BLACKCAPS team for the second One-Day International of the National Bank Series against the West Indies.

Hamish Marshall steps aside for Vincent, who top-scored with 42 in the tour-opening Twenty20 game in Auckland.

He also made a cameo appearance as a substitute fielder to dismiss half-century maker Ramnaresh Sarwan, in the 81-run win in Wellington.

BLACKCAPS: Jamie How, Lou Vincent , Nathan Astle, Stephen Fleming (captain), Peter Fulton, Scott Styris, Brendon McCullum, Daniel Vettori, James Franklin, Shane Bond, Michael Mason, Jeetan Patel (substitute).

West Indies: Shivnarine Chanderpaul (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle, Wavell Hinds, Daren Ganga, Runako Morton, Dwayne Smith, Denesh Ramdin, Ian Bradshaw, Rawl Lewis, Fidel Edwards, Jerome Taylor (substitute).
