Openers Michael Parlane (48) and Stephen Fleming (32) put on 91 for the first wicket as the hosts chased the Volts’ 139, attained at a cost of seven wickets.
An unbeaten partnership of 33 off 23 balls between Grant Elliot (27 not out) Jesse Ryder, who hit two fours and a six to finish, ensured victory.
Earlier, Nathan McCullum found the boundary six times in a 27-ball knock of 46 to top the Otago scorecard.
