Faisal replaces Inzy

Faisal Iqbal has been named in the Pakistan one day international cricket squad after a three year absence from the shortened version of the game.

With skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq barred for the opening four games of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, Iqbal has been rushed into the squad as his replacement.

The 24-year-old comes from a strong cricketing pedigree with uncle Javed Miandad widely considered one of Pakistan's greatest captains.

Despite Inzamam expecting to be available should Pakistan make it into the tournament final, Iqbal's selection means his services will not be required.

Following last week's hearing in which the Pakistan skipper was handed his four-match ban for bringing the game of cricket into disrepute, coach Bob Woolmer admits he has had to work on a game-plan that does not involve Inzamam.

"Losing Inzamam is a big setback as he is such an experienced player and top-class batsman," he told the BBC.

"But his absence can't be helped and I would be hoping the boys will put everything behind them and try to do their best."

Pakistan kick-starts its campaign on October 17 against a qualifying team and star batsman Younis Khan has been given the captaincy duties.
