Ewen Thompson unavailable for Central Stags

Central Stags all rounder Ewen Thompson has announced that he has accepted a job opportunity in Northland and is not available for any cricket for Central next season, including the Champions League.

Central Districts Coaching Director, Scott Briasco, said, “It needed to be formally acknowledged that ET (Thompson) has been a great servant of the Stags and an ambassador for the game in our region.

“At all times he has been a 100% performer and his record has been quite outstanding. Not only has he performed well from a personal point of view but he has been a wonderful team man and even in his review one of his most enjoyable moments was watching Peter Ingram and Jamie How chase down 450 v Wellington.

“I would like to offer to ET a big thank you from all of us for his commitment, his tireless work ethic and his passionate approach to the game. We wish him all the very best in Northland and know that he will be supporting the Stags in the future. Some of his records will last for quite some time I believe.

Ewen Thompson was part of the New Zealand Under 19 World Cup team in 1998 and also played for Northland and Manawatu in the Hawke Cup before making his First Class debut for the Central Stags in 2000.

The tall left armer was called into the BLACKCAPS at the age of 29 and played one match against the West Indies in Hamilton.
