England head down under

England's women’s team have set off on their two-month tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Nine players will travelled out of London to join the remainder of the squad, who are already playing state cricket in Australia.

The English, led by captain Charlotte Edwards, take on Australia in a four-day Ashes Test before five ODIs and a Twenty20 international.

They then cross the Tasman for five ODIs against the White Ferns at Lincoln, and also play New Zealand A.

Edwards said: “We’re all really looking forward to it. We’ve all been working hard over the winter.

“It’s going to be a tough tour as both Australia and New Zealand are two of the best sides in world cricket, but we’re taking a young talented squad with lots of potential, and we’re fully prepared for it.”
