Dravid calls on side to lift

Indian skipper Rahul Dravid has called on his side to lift its batting if it is to have any chance of victory in the ICC Champions Trophy next month.

India was knocked out of the tri-series in Malaysia by Australia on Friday and Dravid believes it was the batting that let the team down.

"We've got to look at the positives and our bowling and fielding has been really good," Dravid told the BBC.

"Our batting has not done well in this tournament and that's one of the areas of the game we are renowned for and have done well in the past."

"I think it's a matter of time before our batting starts firing again, so we'll be positive and go [to the Champions Trophy] with a lot of confidence."

A five-wicket blitz from Brett Lee helped decimate India's top order and Dravid was disappointed with the efforts of his batsman, and his own performance.

Dravid was trapped lbw off the bowling of Stuart Clark for just seven, while batting dynamo Sachin Tendulkar fell to Lee for four.

"It is a hard one to stomach. These kind of losses really hurt," Dravid said.

"I think the whole batting order, starting with myself, must stand up and be counted."

"We didn't lose the game because of a poor strategy. The simple thing is that chasing 213 on a good wicket, you just need batsmen to form partnerships and we should really have won the match."
