DAY 2: Under 19 v Wellington A scorecard and match report

DAY two – 04 January 2009

NZ Under 19’s 182/3 (Tom Latham 82, M Pollard 59*)

The New Zealand 19’s resumed on 52 for one and made it through to 182 for three before rain stopped play in their match against Wellington A.  Tom Latham was the main contributor with 82 and Michael Pollard was unbeaten on 59.

Because of the time lost due to weather the decision has been made to abandon the match and play a one-day game tomorrow.

DAY one – 05 January 2009

Wellington A 236 (S Rhodes 71, T Blundell 40, J Sewell 34; I Tugaga 3-36, J Fuller 4-18, M Farrant 2-25Under 19's 52/1 (T Latham 34*)

Batting first Wellington A complied 236 against the New Zealand Under 19 team on day one of their three day match.  Stewart Rhodes, who has been on the verge of making the Firebirds team, top scored for Wellington with 71.   Tom Blundell and Jarred Sewell also made useful contributions with 40 and 34 respectively.  The Under 19 team bowled well with Otago's James Fuller inflicting the most damage taking four for 18.  Ili Tugaga was also on target returning 3-36 with Matt Farrant being tidy, taking two for 25.  Keeper Jonathan Bassett-Graham was busy behind the stumps completed five catches.  The Under 19's will resume tomorrow on 52 for on with young Cantabrian Tom Latham on 36 not out.
