Botha's action under scrutiny

The ICC has confirmed that South African off-spinner Johan Botha has been reported for throwing during the third Test against Australia at the SCG.

Umpires Billy Bowden and Aleem Dar, the TV umpire and match referee Chris Broad all made the report.

"Concerns were raised by over the general legality of his bowling action and in particular his 'doosra' and quicker deliveries," said Broad.

Botha will now undergo independent analysis of his action by a member of the ICC's panel of human movement specialists, but will be able to continue playing for South Africa.

The analysis will take place as soon as practically possible, and within a maximum period of 21 days.

If Botha is found to have been bowling with an illegal action he will be suspended and must be re-assessed before he can return to the international level.

The SCG Test was the 23-year-old's debut at the international level and he took a wicket in each innings in his side's eight-wicket defeat.
